Dressing like Nina

If many of you in Australia (like me) are having a love affair with the show Offspring, now in its third season. Then I also assume you are having a love affair with Nina Proudman (played by Asher Keddie) and her eclectic ladylike/urban style. What I love about Nina's style is its actually comprised of a few key items and is really easy to achieve.

Here are a few of my favourite looks and how to get them and what to buy or find in your wardrobe! Your wardrobe list should comprise of:

Maxi skirts
Waistcoats
Scarves (lots!)
Boots
Skinny jeans
wide leg pants
Belts
Satchels

1. A well fitting maxi skirt is a must.

Nina always shows off her waist with a beautiful maxi skirt more often than not teemed with a waistcoat and scarf. Such an easy look to perfect. Experiment with bringing out different colours. I like this look with boots but works well with flats and thongs.

Maxi skirt with simple top picking out key colour and a belt again.
2. Wide leg pants. Not everyone can pull off wide leg pants so its important to show off your waist. One thing Nina always does is show off her waist. You never see her in loose tops.

The wide leg pant, and a belt again
Pick out a colour to match your scarf and then mix it up with a sparkly waistcoat
 3. The skinny jean and boots. Nina has a lot of scenes with great jeans and boots. Usually mid denim with a black or neutral toned boot. Elongates the legs. A cropped jacket is a great way to show off your waist. I've added in some turquoise accessories to brighten this up.

Jeans and boots.

I love this look. Very sexy teemed with brightly coloured accessories.
And lastly don't be afraid to wear your hair back to show off your neck and shape! We rarely see Nina with her hair down. To play with your own looks go to polyvore.com and create sets and share them with the Chevali community on Facebook.
